Meaning

Artificial Abandonment is about attachment and abandonment issues, showing two characters in a struggling relationship. They wish to be abandoned, yet crave their company. In the end, the singer abandons the other, leaving them both alone.

It's important to note that this song is not based off of YonKaGor's perspective.[1]

Trivia

  • There are hidden codes in the music video, though most just translate out as "Bwekh!".
  • Artificial Abandonment is YonKaGor's first song to not be from their character's perspective, instead being centered Mello's character.
  • Artificial Abandonment was originally going to be included in the Paper Alibis EP, but was removed as it was not up to YonKaGor's standards at the time.[2]
  • Older YonKaGor songs such as Artificial Abandonment and Paper Alibis were influenced by Japanese lyric styles.[3]
  • Artificial Abandonment is YonKaGor's least favorite song they've produced.[4]
  • It was confirmed by Yon that Artificial Abandonment has no plans to be officially released to any streaming services.[5]
    • YonKaGor has remade Artificial Abandonment and played it live during 2024's Cease and Desist.[6]
